Grateful Awakening

I awake to a new day, a new chance to live
I begin with my thanks, praying how I can give.
For this day has been gifted, with no guarantees.
But a chance to help others find their comfort and ease.
It's our words and our stories that must freely be given.
To have faith we'll recover from the depths we were driven.
Our power together comes from faith in another.
A father that guides us both sister and brother.
This bond that connects us is built for much pain.
Yet we still keep our faith to believe it wasn't in vain.
To never forget that divided we were broken.
I humbly say thanks to this new day I've woken.
