Battle Array

Battle Array
Joseph Taylor
Freedom.  What is it? How do I obtain such a thing?
It comes from military soldiers, and from a King.
One was paid for over two thousand years ago on a tree,
When the King died on it, for you and for me.
Jesus is that King, that suffered and died, to give us Freedom,
Freedom from sin, death, and Hell, and more than we can imagine.
We are free in ways that we do not deserve, and ways we could never earn,
To know Him more, and to commune with Him I do yearn.
The soldier holds his weapon firmly, ready to protect his land,
He guards us, in air, on water, and in the hot sand.
Freedom is not “free”, as some may say,
Jesus and the soldier, both fights in battle array.
In Jesus’ hands and feet, are holes from where the nails were, from the enemy,
And in the soldier’s arms he holds his comrade, struck down by such tragedy.
So, today thank Jesus, and thank a soldier, for showing such compassion and love,
They both save us from destruction, that the enemy throws at us.
