Poetry Feeds the Soul

I never excelled in verbiage you see
So what on earth happened to morph this new me
For verily a poet I am as we speak
I lovingly give birth to poems each week
So why this transformation in the winter of my years
When creaky back is aching and nostalgia brings me tears
Why now should this brain of mine so frantically create
As if a clock is ticking with desperation my soul to sate
If another human being finds solace
For reading words and thought’s I’ve strewn
Upon a page from this this well seasoned sage
Then my spirit does soar and bloom
An advocate in life I will forever be
I know I always will
Now poetry serves to quench that thirst
Gives an outlet to serve others still
We all have something precious to offer
When blessed with another morning
So why not leave a better world
New talents are always dawning
For me ’twas words to share with you
Not always successful in their goal
But sharing still with love I will
For they serve to feed this vintage soul
