Shaken Confidence

Shaken confidence
In the city
Of broken hopes,
Where neon lights
Flicker and stutter,
Like my imagination,
Casting shadows
On the faces
Of the lost
And disoriented.

Belief evades me,
A slippery eel
Wriggling through my grasp,
Leaving
Me empty-handed,
Uncertain,
And vulnerable
To doubt.

The streets are a maze,
A labyrinth of doubt
And insecurity, where each step
Feels like a stumble,
A misstep towards failure.

Faces pass me by,
Blurry and indistinct,
Their judgment
Hanging in the air,
Like a thick fog of
Inadequacy
And self-doubt,
Stifling me,
Crippling me.

I search for certainty,
For a solid ground
To stand on,
But find only quicksand,
Sinking deeper
With each attempt
To regain control.

The city pulses with
Expectation and demands,
Whispering harshly
In my ear,
Reminding me
Of my inadequacies
And shortcomings.

The sirens wail, echoing
The keening within my soul,
A constant reminder of
My shaken confidence,
My faltering spirit.

I press on,
Struggling through
The chaos,
Hoping to find a glimmer
Of certainty,
A flicker
Of self-assurance.

Shaken confidence,
A battle
I continue to fight,
Searching for the strength
To rise above the doubts
And reclaim
My credence.
