Audio Visual In The Twenty First Century

I heard somewhere that we are infinite
I heard that poetry writes itself
And poets are just catalysts
I heard that teens are too emotional
And I heard that from angry old men
Old men who don’t know real poetry
I also heard that life is awful
And that people are only evil
I hope that I heard that wrong

I heard that I grew my hair too long
I heard that my kind don’t do well here
And I heard that nothing matters
And that I should just face my fears
I also heard you could never love me
Because you’re scared of what I might do
I hope my ears are playing tricks on me

I hear things
Little whispers in the dead of night
Dark whispers that haunt me to my core
Don’t leave me here to rot
Please, I can’t keep up this front any more
I see things too
I see shadows
They want your soul
But I will protect you from them
Even if you don’t know they’re watching

I see people whisper when I can’t hear them
And I feel their stares on my back
They hate me
I heard you hate me too
And that you know my type
I heard you don’t like my charms
Because temptation is so easy

I heard that I was all alone, and now I’m not
I heard people are afraid to dance
I heard they don’t make fools of themselves
I’ll be a fool for you any day
Because that’s love
You all are my whole world
So I must have heard wrong
Because from where I’m standing
I see that the world is so damn beautiful
