Cold Daydream

Through the cracks,
Moments leak
Like winter chill seeping under
The door,
Invading this sun-spangled room.
A cold daydream wanders
Through my mind's labyrinth,
Shivering whispers
Curling around
The edges of my thoughts.

I trace the path,
A constellation of
Lost desires in frozen ink.
Silent echoes vibrate
In the corners,
Swirling like frosty breath,
As the world outside
Turns to ice,
The streets empty,
The city asleep.

In this cold daydream,
I am the ghost
Floating through
The snow-kissed air,
Leaving no footprints,
No trace.
I wander the streets,
A solitaire figure,
Wrapped in layers of memories,
My heart beating
In time with the falling snow.

I pass by faces
Etched in frost,
The flickering streetlights casting
Long shadows
Of forgotten dreams.
They speak in hushed tones,
Their voices carried
Away by the wind.
Phantoms of longing,
They haunt the streets,
Unseen but felt
In every icy gust.

The cold daydream
Carries me further,
To a place
Where time stands still,
Where the world becomes
A blur of white,
And all that remains
Is the echo of winter.
I surrender
To its numbing embrace,
Allowing it to freeze
My worries,
To silence my racing thoughts.

But even as I let go,
I know
That this cold daydream
Is fleeting,
That soon the sun will rise,
Melting away the illusion.
I clutch onto
The fading chill,
Knowing that it will slip
Through my fingers,
Fade into nothingness,
Leaving only fragments behind.

And so,
I surrender to the warmth,
Emerging from the depths
Of my cold daydream,
Returning to a world
Of colors and sounds.
But a part of me
Forever lingers there,
In the icy recesses
Of my mind,
Where a cold daydream
Still dances,
Whispering secrets
Of a frozen reality.
