The Past

Situations in the present can bring to life ghosts of the past
Reasons for this upheaval I confess I haven't quite
grasped

Could be the time, could be the place, the people or even me
Could be chance, coincidence, fate or just inevitability
Could be a pair of nostalgic glasses shading my sights
Could be where the sun suspended glints it's light just right

Whatever the variables that make up my melancholy memory
It lays out onto this world like a movie projecting
And I'm caught in a trance as the past plays on
To every sound, movement, touch, smell and conversation
All assembled to pull me by a leash down memory lane
Feeling a tear form that never saw the light of day

About this poem

I got into a relationship with a coworker. The relationship did not work out and now work is just a crime scene.
