Silence

To blank out all underneath words,
To object to all speech I utter.
The words are gone, there's a lump left in my throat,
For the thoughts I no longer can verse
It feels harsh and cold and ungrateful,
For what have we done to render speechless,
For nothing less has left us dumbfounded,
Then the very hush from our loved ones.
For whence there was a vent of hope and gushing, is now an empty drain of weary sighs,
Marching out in solidarity, much like veterans with heavy hearts and Pyrrhic victories.
The lock is chained, the passage of air left to gasp,
For no sentences are left to construct,
In a home where words are unloved.

About this poem

These verses direct melancholic and wounded souls the core reason of how their once lively bumblings were charred by the ones who were supposed to kindle their flames of thoughts.
