My Mount Moriah

BLS 1964 (Phila)

My Mount Moriah.

My God, He bids me up the mount.
My flesh delays, my spirit goes.
And though I have but just a doubt,
My inward parts, I know, I know.

Descending upward to the top,
I know the dreaded altar waits.
It wouldn't suit me now to stop,
My sacrifice it must be laid.

Holding on with all my might
To something that I want to keep,
Once I reach that dreadful height,
My tender burden I must release.

If I should keep it, just as though I never even heard you speak.
Weighing the balance, too, and fro which road I reject which road I keep.
One road , I would be in your will, the other road without your peace.
