My Hell

It was hell on earth.
Masked with painted illusions.
Words sweet like,
with actions deadly like spears.
Caught up in dream of what we could be.
Trying to save you all while losing myself.
Each step I took were on shards of broken glass, the broken pieces of my heart that you were chiseling away at.
The pain killers you gave me came from candy coated words.
They made me hold on for just a little while longer.
Watching myself dissipate into the shadows of the strong loving woman I once was.
You made me hard, cold, and untrusting of everyone and everything.
To love you one must lose themselves in the process.
I have lost so much of the person I once was.
My heart maybe scared from the stiches used to put it back together those scars will serve as a constant reminder of the pain that comes with loving you.
