My Heaven on earth

My heart calls me home,
But like child, my soul begs me to stay.
There’s something about this place,
I feel more connected as I pray.
In the crisp air I can breathe once more,
My worries drift away.
The suffocation of life’s responsibilities lift
and the pressures of day to day.
The harsh grip of reality is released,
and the chains of stress break way.
My head begins to clear.
I can focus through the day.
The clouds that often stalk me,
seem to have gone astray.
The vice within my chest is loosened.
While I am here I am okay.
Tomorrow my heart will be full again,
But my soul will long to return each day.

About this poem

I wrote this visiting Oregon. I was torn missing my husband but not wanting to return home to work and daily responsibilities.
