Awaken

Casted away to the shore.
I contemplate what life is worth living for.
I dream of the day I’ll be free but stuck on this island, alone near the sea.

I take a deep breath, inhale the salty sea air, I feel it’s healing powers, my mind becomes clear.

The future is in front of me as the sun begins to rise, I decide to walk towards the water and I find to my surprise, I see my reflection in the ripples of the tide, “Hello beautiful friend, it’s been a long time.”

As I stand in what I thought once was the abyss, I realize my relationship with myself had been missed.

I wrap my arms around myself, embracing who I am, a renewed sense of self had made it clear I can swim.

I find an oar and place myself on what was once a damaged raft and decide to paddle forward and let go of the past.

Looking ahead, bright future in mind, I’ve come to learn my life is worth fighting for this time.
