The Junctions of Life

I motor ahead
breaking records in the drive to accomplish
streaking past foe and friend
in my thirst to excel

all cylinders on max performance
i cannot be denied
until the moment
when it all stops

just like that
a junction in the middle of nowhere
the break in the midst of the relay race

how- why-
questions upon questions
the sudden awareness that
clarity is no more

left adrift
like hanging from a mountain top
no rules or compass
just sink, swim or drift

danger abounds
does time stop
or do I find that entry
to the next dimension
and the growth beyond my dreams
