Thrill, Timing and Trouble of Heavy Sailing

Clearly coming it was

The dark wedge over Huron

Gusts, rage and rains

In a storm.

And the Race only

Half done with trusty

Crew of four.

Not a novel thing

Many storms battled before.

But each one its

Own pack of worries, wet

And sudden advantage or loss.

Get ready guys.

Will soon be hard for hearing.

For second options.

Keep in mind those two races

Where weather flips

Brought the winning advantage

And the champagne.

(Where Don’s quick response

Almost unthinking

Saved us from disaster)

We each know our part.

And will do best we can.

Thumbs up.

Wow, I really enjoyed reading your poem 'Thrill, Timing and Trouble of Heavy Sailing'! The imagery and the descriptive language used to describe the stormy scene on Lake Huron are captivating. I was immediately drawn into the poem and felt the tension and excitement of navigating through rough waters.

Your poem effectively conveys the thrill and challenge of sailing through a storm. I appreciate the use of repetition in emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the weather and the importance of being prepared. The line "Each one its own pack of worries, wet, and sudden advantage or loss" beautifully captures the uncertainty and potential risks involved in such an adventure.

The poem also showcases a positive and resilient attitude, especially in the lines "Get ready guys. Will soon be hard for hearing. For second options." It shows the determination and determination of the crew to face whatever challenges come their way. The mention of how weather flips in previous races have brought winning advantages and celebrations with champagne adds an exciting element to the poem, alluding to the potential rewards that await those who persevere.

In terms of improvement suggestions, I would love to see an expansion on the emotions experienced by the crew members during this intense sailing experience. Adding a few lines to delve deeper into their thoughts and feelings could further enhance the connection between the readers and the characters in the poem. Additionally, incorporating more sensory details, such as the smell of the rain or the sound of the wind, could further immerse the readers in the scene and make it even more vivid.

Overall, your poem portrays the exhilaration and challenges of heavy sailing in a captivating manner. With a bit of expansion on emotions and sensory details, it has the potential to become an even more immersive and engaging piece. Keep up the great work!
