Oh how I do love when those monsters appear
On my flat screen TV instilling such fear
I remember in my youth seeing Frankenstein
Chills slowly ascending up my chubby boy spine
Not to mention Lon Chaney morphing wolf man supreme
I sat with my brother and how I did SCREAM!!!
Then dressed in all black count Dracula would bite
I’d be shaking and crying-such vampiric delight!
Creature of the Black Lagoon in his swampy lair
Would raise up my fuzzy crew-cutted short hair
King Kong was the champ of his jungle domain
When first I did see him my brain went insane!
Godzilla the terror decimating the land
Never has a dinosaur been so frighteningly grand
But now as an adult I look back and do wonder
Do monsters really exist to ravage and plunder?
Sadly yes I must state, clearly so I do know
For I see human monsters in this world it is so,
They choose to berate
They relish in hate
They bully and attack-such a sad, sad fate!
You know who they are I need not explain
Please don’t be those monsters!
Allow your kindness to reign!
About this poem
Do monsters really exist today? My poem explores that notion.
