Transformed

For where there is hurt a strength is developed, for where there is pain a lesson is learned
For when I feel sorrow and release the emotions my power is earned
How would one know that there would be so much freedom in the release of agony?
That it is more stressful to suppress and that in expression there is a harmony
I had a past where I was in matrimony with anger and rage
I would engage with a passion for vulgarity, screams, tantrums; in fury I was encaged
I didn’t know a life of joy and peace only discord and tragedy
To smile and laugh with brief moments in my calamity
My familiarity was with sadness and despair
I was never aware that I could change the mood with just a prayer
I’ve positioned myself to look towards the Most High
Not to deny my insides, that sometimes I just must cry
Let that become water to nurture myself and grow
To develop and see that misery doesn’t have to be the only thing I’ll ever know
