Emerge

Collapsed on the ground, pieces of her slowly cracking, falling off her like the petals of a withering flower.
She lays there in complete darkness feeling the pain of each crack.
She tries hard to hold the pieces in place but they keep slipping through her fingers.
As time passes by she fears that she will lose herself completely.
In a panic, she tries to catch the broken pieces as they fall quicker by the day.
She finds herself in pain, completely shattered but not withered.
She tried desperately to keep herself together but she failed to see that with each falling part a new piece of her grew.
She had to go through all of the pain...
She had to completely lose her old self to emerge from the darkness to become whole and get rid of the image of someone she thought she needed to be.
