Mom

You ruined my life

You raised me in a cult

Filled me with hatred and strife

Like some mindless dolt

Couldn't show how I feel

Do I even trust myself

Had to fake a smile every meal

Can I trust myself

I don’t know how to process grief

Or anger or even pain

That's not what we used to believe

Now my life is in a giant strain
Things I should have had to learn

As a toddler or child

You stole from me and now I yearn

I don’t even know how to be mild

I used to yell at God all the time

Be angry with him

He took the wrong parent of mine

My outlook on normal life is dim
