Goodbye to an old friend

The first goodbye is the hardest,
being your friend was not the smartest,
Forty Two years, we have been together,
longer for me than any other,

You stuck with me, through the bad and the good,
You were more desirable to me than food,

When I was fourteen just barely a teenager,
You became my major,

You seemed to calm my fears,
You took away my tears,

You walked miles with me,
We walked by the sea,

You never abandoned me,
You never let me be,

You watched me, you calmed me,
You spent all my money,
You made me laugh, you were so funny

You made me smell bad,
You made me sad,

You made me chase you,
even before the morning dew,

You tasted really bad, so I had to find things to make you taste better,
You where the chains that fetter,

You made me crave you, and when you weren't there, you made me angry,
You ate away at my health, like gangrene,

So old friend, this journey must come to an end,

It is this day that I say, chow, Goodbye,
it is time to put my hand to the plow, and not look back,

You will NOT give me a heart attack,

Goodbye, do not come calling again,
it is time for this to end!

Goodbye!
