From a Father to His Son

Son, stay in school and educate your mind.
Be thouthful, helpful and kind.
Son, it doesn't matter what other people do.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Son, always work hard and do your best.
Then you will truly enjoy your days of rest.
Son, don't work too much and forget to have fun.
Do this in life, not have I have done.

Son, someday you'll take a wife.
And settle down into married life.
Son, one day you may have your little boy.
To love and be loved back and bring you joy.
Son, comfort him when he cries.
Gently wipe the tears from his eyes.
Son, the time with him to have fun.
Do this in life, not what I have done.

Son, guide him in his .early years, keep him on track.
Respect him, and he will respect you back.
Son, take time and talk to him when he is bad.
This is also part of being a good dad.
Son, there are so many things I want to say to you.
But the most important is, I've always loved you.
Son, when everything is said and done.
Do this in life not what I have done.
