Difficult Decision It Is To Make

The power of doubt.

Doubt.
Presented to hear.
Smothering truth.
Coming unexpectedly.
Heard by one who judges,
Out of a lawyer's mouth.

Difficult decision it is to make.
In a court room of people.
Barely awake.
Listening to creative debates.
As to how a defendant,
Can plead innocent to a crime committed.
Witnessed by a crowd to see,
The defendant...
Purposely burn down their neighbor's home.
To observe it seen,
First throwing molotov cocktails...
Through the windows.
Then pour gasoline around it.
Leaving to go and come back with more.

'This,
Your Honor...
Is nothing more than circumstantial evidence.
And besides,
Pictures and videos taken at the scene...
With our client cheering as if crazed mentally.
Had not been approved or authorized,
By our client.
Left stunned and surprised to have,
His integrity compromised.

'Uh...what?

Whatever that claimed proof of evidence,
Provided and presented.
With our client signing autographs.
And posing for pictures?
Had been staged to have it appear,
Our client to be the culprit.
When those invited to this event,
Knew that our client did all he could...
To prevent expensive,
And valuable possessions in the home...
From completely being destroyed.
After hearing the crowd shout,
'Most of that stuff is irreplaceable antiques!'
Then...
Out of the goodness,
Of his misunderstood heart.
Rushed to get a box of baking powder.
But discovered too late,
One box was not enough...
To put out the flames.
Burning down the entire house!
And what is claimed to be eye witness proof,
Is made up to smear our client.
Brought to tears by what appears to be B.S.'

'Please. Please.
Calm your client down.
I have yet to make my final decision.
The evidence and proof of it,
Is clearly circumstantial.
And it's obvious and plain to see,
Any judgement to pass today...
Would further harm one who has been picked,
Without reason to suffer through...
Such pain and agony.
Let us all take a two month recess.
