The Greatest Mom

We've had many hard times together
and we didn't get along
Oftentimes you were far away
when I felt alone and scared
I remember the laughter and
somewhere there was the pain
The years are passing us by and
you are getting old
we've had many hard times together and
Your body is looking frail
now it's time we move on and
I want to give you a message of love
for the prettiest girl I know
to the greatest mom

About this poem

I wrote the original poem with this title over 20 or even 30 years ago at Poetry.com. I pulled it up again around 10 years ago but now can't find it. This isn't the original. The original was noted and won a prize. I guess if I look hard enough I could find it. It's to my mom Vernice Chapman who I visited today at her home. She is 82 years old and born November 9, 1940. I love you mom, your son, Corky.
