Mom

So many days have passed
Where life's lessons you tried to impart
But my stubbornness held fast
And kept wisdom from my heart
Despite disappointments and strife
Your love and support always stayed
You focused on my successes in life
And remained my rock, unswayed
Through your own experience and trials
I witnessed the power of love
Learned to be a stronger soul
And look for reasons to smile
I hope you feel my gratitude
Like a gentle breeze on a summer's day
Every cell in me sings in praise
Of the mother who lights my way.
