Love Will Prevail

Violent war is
A terrible thing.
Something that needs to happen
Is Love.

The death of humans is
Unnecessary and Pointless.
Essential
Things, Care and Passion are.

Not for any set reason,
I want to give everything I am to, not
Just for my own enjoyment,
Change how things are.

I smile in glee,
Love is eternal, but
When the bombs are dropped and the fires rage,
It’s always causing pain.

I have a fluttery feeling in my stomach
When someone loves me truly.
As the lands are ravaged, filled with mines and trenches.
I want to forget it because the hurt people deserve LOVE more.

I watched an innocent person die on the battlefield.
My heart slowly cracking,
Their breaths were slowly getting shallower.
I swore
I’d never forget this man
Because the lack of love killed me.
The memory fueled me and
I promised to never let it happen again.
I grew stronger,
Promising I would learn to spread
Love.
Pain.
Is useless.

My stomach drops when I
Open the history books,
See that
War hasn’t changed.
Love is futile.
People still kill people over the smallest things.
I remind myself,
With fiery pride
Things HAVE changed.
I see Spartans.
People all around me, we are not
A whole culture based on war.
Giving when we can.
If only I could go back in time.
I could say that things have gotten better.
I could say hate is what really fuels us.
But I’d be lying.

About this poem

A positive poem that is a combination of two negative poems. I also like to call this poem "Two Wrongs Make A Right" as a joke. (See: "Love Of War" and "War On Love")
