Winding Road

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

What is on your mind, my dear friend?
Is it a weight that’s hard to shake?
Perhaps it’s worry that you can’t escape,
Or a memory that haunts you without end.

In moment by moment, we all deal
With pressure that can’t be denied,
It fills our brains like a fluid tide,
And we struggle to stay balanced and real.

There are people who may confuse us,
Filled with deceit and selfish pride,
But we shall not let them cloud our mind,
And instead, choose to trust in what is true.

By controlling our emotions, we gain control,
And find peace in the quiet moments alone,
For often the answers are unsaid and unknown,
And we must let our intuition guide us to our goal.

As we drive down life’s winding road,
The world around us becomes a blur,
But when we find a space that’s clear,
Our minds can rest and our hearts can soar.
