Rusted Trumpet

He stands,
Rusty trumpet
In hand,
Plays,
Echoes
Through the town.

Notes,
Magic,
Transport
To another place.
Feel rhythm
In your soul,
Smile on your
Countenance.

Jazz musician,
Master of sound,
Trumpet as rusty
As his pride.
Plays,
Wings take us
Off the terra firma.

Passion,
Heart,
Soul.
Trumpet sings
An ancient tale.
Loss and love,
Struggle,
Pain,
A song
That will not break.

He plays,
People gather.
Listen to his melody.
Leader,
In his sway
We follow
Willingly.

Beacon
In the dark,
Light that guides
Through the night.
He's the one
We trust,
Makes everything
Proper.

Plays,
We come together.
Different races,
Cultures,
Creeds.
Every note,
Binds as one,
The music is all
That we desire.

Jazz musician,
Leader,
One,
Shows a new way
To live.
Follow
With all our hearts,
Always pardon.

Play on,
Dear musician,
Trumpet ringing
Clear.
Every note
Reminds us,
There's nothing
To dread.

Finishes song,
Packs up gear,
Disappears
Without a clue.
Leaving us
Wondering,
When his music
Will play again.
