House Wrens

Little Mother
Build your nest
Right beneath the eaves
Husband helps with
Wood stuffs, grass
Proudly oft, he leaves.
Soon the sound of
peeping young.
Their demands are hard
Food to sling
The major thing.
Flying o’er the Yard.
This the way through
Springtime’s Day.
Tulips gay below
Hardly seen by busy birds.
Duty’s what they know.
I will view Dutch colours true
Red and orange and white
Only tawny browns for you.
Beauty’s in your flight.
I am told you
Come each year
If the nest is right.
