Nothing but a game

KaMageba 2007 (Pietermaritzburg)

I was a game
A game for you to play
You would move me around
Like the pieces of a chess board
And I would obey
I was a game
A game for you to win
You would control me
And I would submit
I was a game
A game for you to win
A game you had to win
By cheating
I'd lose myself
But you'd win
But at the cost of my sanity
I was a game
A game you had to win
And my tears would be your prize
I was a game
a fun diversion
I was a game
Something to make you laugh
I was a game
A way to forget your troubles
I was a game

                                 - A way to pass the time

About this poem

Nothing but a game is about a girl who was played by a guy. She then realized later when the relationship ended that she was nothing but a bet and game. A bet he didn't have to win but wanted to win. He could've called it off to save her feelings but he choose to be selfish.
