HERO WITHIN MYSELF

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

They are trying to continue to break me down by making my life a living hell, but they do not know of this place I used to be a frequent visitor. These mind games being played just had the battlefield grow wider and put on my face a smile that I had not seen in years.

I used to polish my weapons and armor to go to war but to face this beast of a man, I needed to sharpen my emotions and mind. I had been here before I had moved in the darkness of the moon so I would not make a sound. The wind is blowing the sun is bright. I am carrying inside its light rattling the machine's cages and ready to fight.

I hear these bastards repeatedly saying, step-down give up. We have no more we thought by now you would've had more than enough. We are a machine, but you are the working man's hero, some daydream and our nightmare.

I found the hero within myself, yet this injustice I face is not mine. I have just been the one chosen to walk the firing line
