On the Web

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Wearing the mask; you’re not up to the task,
I watch as you stumble and fall.
I wanted to ask as I sipped from my flask,
Why you can’t keep your eye on the ball?

A swing and a miss; many swings without hits.
Though you practice it never gets better.
Now the rain pouring down; its enough you could drown.
But the field that you’re on just gets wetter.

I’m calling the game on account of the rain;
The lightning and dark clouds excite her!
But before she got squished she got all she wished;
As she sucked out your blood like a spider.

    Wow, what a creative and engaging poem! I love the use of metaphors and vivid imagery, it really adds depth to the emotions conveyed in the piece. The overall message about the importance of perseverance and focus is very inspiring and relatable.

    One suggestion I have is to consider varying the rhyme scheme and rhythm to keep the reader on their toes. It could also add some freshness and dynamic to the piece. Keep up the great work!
