Pain of being loved

She had a lover,
But nobody to share her pain.
Her heart was heavy,
And her tears fell like rain.

She longed for someone,
To hold her when she cried.
To listen to her worries,
And be there by her side.

But all she had was emptiness,
And the weight of her own sorrow.
She tried to be strong,
But it was hard to face tomorrow.

So she whispered to the stars,
And hoped that someone might hear.
That she needed a friend,
To chase away her fear.

For even with a lover,
Sometimes the heart still aches.
And it takes a special one,
To help heal the break
