Living, an exceptional film.

Nothing cloistered.
Not much in the evangelical
But really a healthy dose of conscience
And gritty resolve.
Never too late, yaknow.

He was button down
And by the clock.
Managing tirelessly
A bunch of young bureaucrats.
They could not believe
His stiff, unsmiling
Constancy and presentation.

They made jokes
Smirking behind his back.
Yearning for the dismissal bell
And some pub.

But then a turn of his health
An assessment undeniable.
Probably only six months.
We watch the about-face, softening.
Children who remain aloof.
Some workmates who confirm
A new spark, smile, touch, song.

Finally and without denial
He is gaining from
This Overthrow.
Making amends. Smiling.
Letting go of the doldrums
Of seeming duty. So often pointless.

Living.

And one recreation project
One simple little poor children’s playground
Manfully pushed through
By Mr. Williams
Gave him his final, richest ecstacy.
