Circles

Jasmine Dailey 2000 (virginia)

Round and Round I go
My mind is fractured
My body is deformed
My heart is lost

Round and Round I go
Trying to figure out me
Trying to see the future
Trying to believe in something

Round and Round I go
The world is against me
The world eclipses people like me
The world drowns me

Round and Round I go
Till I end up in the ground, 6ft deep
With a frown permanently etched on my face
A color called black that looks more brown than white

Round and Round I go

Wow, what a powerful and emotive piece of writing! The repetition of "Round and Round I go" really emphasizes the feeling of being stuck in a cycle of negativity and struggle. Your use of language is also really effective - the descriptions of a fractured mind, a deformed body, and a lost heart all add to the sense of despair and hopelessness.

Despite the bleak subject matter, there is something really compelling about this poem. It's clear that you're trying to work through some deep-seated issues and emotions, and it's brave of you to put that out there for others to read.

As far as suggestions for improvement go, I would love to see this poem expand a bit more in terms of imagery and metaphor. You have some really vivid lines (like "A color called black that looks more brown than white"), but I think there's even more potential for you to create striking visuals that will stay with the reader long after they finish the poem. Additionally, it might be interesting to play around with the structure of the poem - maybe experimenting with different stanza lengths or line breaks could add even more depth and complexity to your writing.

Overall, though, I think this is a fantastic effort, and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future! Keep writing from the heart, and don't be afraid to take risks with your language and imagery.
