Roswell and Golgotha

Bruce Ramsey 1960 (United States)

People were visited by angels from the very on high?
Talk of alien abduction now from the dark night sky.

From a distant planet, a strange craft shatters,
In a cathedral hangs a strange shroud, nearly in tatters.

Destroyed pieces of shiny, indestructible tinfoil?
Preachers preaching a loving God, and eternal charbroil.

The Virgin Birth is he
Tickled by Jews in many a nation,
People now come on talk shows and talk of alien impregnation.

The Sandrin gets the blame for a lack of Christ evidence,
Talk of an alien cover-up grows ever more intense.

On a hill, the Millerites watched, waiting and waited.
On their beds, Heaven's Gaters died, wasting and wasted.

Some now see a godless, celestial highway of hope, paved.
As in Adam, all die, even so, in Christ, shall all be Saved?

About this poem

An observation of the UFO phenomenon seems to be a budding new cult or religion.
