Love our LORD
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I love the Lord who hears my voice,
My pleas for mercy and His grace;
When I am praising I rejoice,
When I have felt His sweet embrace.
Because He has inclined His ear,
I will call as long as I live;
While I continue to revere,
When I confess He will forgive.
The snares of death encompassed me,
The pangs of hell are laying hold;
I anguish about what I see,
Suffering distress to unfold.
Then I call the name of the Lord,
I pray to deliver my soul;
Knowing never to be ignored,
Allowing Him to maintain control.
For gracious is the righteous Lord,
Our God gives abundant grace;
That is why He will be adored,
Nothing can ever take His place.
The Lord will preserve the simple,
He saved me when I was brought low;
And I worship in His temple,
I shall continue to follow.
Return, O my soul, to Your rest,
For the Lord has dealt abundantly;
Knowing that I have done my best,
Not to be done reluctantly.
He delivered my soul from death,
And has stopped the tears from my eyes;
He kept me alive with each breath,
Gave me the wisdom to make me wise.
Walking with Him I won’t stumble,
Here in the land of the living;
Because I am always humble,
For the blessings, He is giving.
