Mess of Art

A stroke here, a stroke there;
In pursuit of sketching a piece of art,
I spill my colors or get my brush too dry
Sketching a still life or just a butterfly.

Off with some stretches of paint on paper,
I Watch them change into a cat or a cuckoo;
Just be patient and careful with the details,
Or a single mishap, and you're screwed.

Creative drawing is not really my thing,
I paint a lark like it has a broken wing;
Be it a project or a speed painting drill,
Bikers look like stick figures on wheels.

"Draw and paint a thing or two,"
My mother does often say,
"It boosts your artistry and is fun too,
You might have a career in it, one fine day!"

It makes me ponder though,
A simple doodle shouldn't be so hard;
Just then I broke my pencil nib,
And see, I am just not a guy for art.

About this poem

Are you good at art? Well, I always mess it up. Just thought of putting the pain of painting into words.
