One Billion Stars

The sky, so wonderfully filled
With planets and stars alike, all just one step away
We adore to look up, all throughout the ages
Billions of stars, sprinkled over a dark blanket
They twinkle with great luminosity
like winking as if to tell us a secret
Billions of stars, perhaps they’re eyes
We look at them, they look back at us
Billions of stars, who knows their names?
We look at them, they look back at us
Billions of stars, ever so large yet so small
We look at them, they look back at us
Little holes poked into the sky, the same holes—
the same holes that we are made out of
like each soul being dropped from them
all of us landing on an unthinkable world
Little stars, astounding dreams
There are one billion stars
Right there, just look
That small patch of sky?
All of those are wished upon
by the very same thing that came from it

About this poem

This poem is about the oneness of the universe and the beauty of the cosmos. I wrote this poem when I saw a post online about space and I felt inspired.
