Flicker

I used to feel as though I could do anything, be anything, and that I had everything.
Children life’s biggest love and blessing.
Friends who are always there.
And a love, which unleashed a radiance words cannot express.
As time moved on, my children  growing older needing me less and less yet more and more.
My friends together we helped each-other through good and bad, with the endless cups of coffee.
But love has changed.
Almost as if I was blind to see it happen. No longer radiant but a dim flicker trying to stay lit amongst a constant storm.
A battle of wind and rain, wind created by the passes by and lack of connection, and rain from the tears that have ran down my face.
Now a radiance of strength and determination, a hunger that thrives off of the isolation and small flicker.
The flicker will go out but a new flame will light.
A flame of self love and the radiance of strength will create a burning fire eager to be unleashed.
Unleashed into a world as powerful as it rises, and yet I am hesitant and frozen.
I used to think that I could do anything, be anything and that I had everything.
Now I stare blankly into my future, uncertain of what lays before me.
But I will remember I am blessed and loved  by my children and friends, just not by the flame that no longer flickers.
