Strings

Erin Rogerson 1983 (Ontario)

She lays there awake
A million thoughts in her head
A place she doesn't go often
As she is usually misled

But tonight she is here
All jumbled inside
With no other place to be
And no place to hide

She sits in her mind
Picking through things
It takes way too much time
To unravel all her strings

She is scared of the darkness
That sometimes lurkes there
And she always goes in, not quite prepared.

To deal with these strings
Is something that requires patience and trust
Something she hasnt done but knows that she must

So tonight, she writes for it helps her sift through
The thoughts, the feelings, and all the knotted strings too.

About this poem

I wrote this poem because it was how I was feeling. All jumbled together and messed up like a ball of string after a kitten got a hold of it.
