Sisters
We shared the womb together
Our bodies intertwined
Your heart was the first thing I ever felt
As I held your hand in mine
Not only are you my sister
You’re my blood you are my twin
So close you couldn’t part us
My best friend that shares my skin
It was like looking in the mirror
When you and I would play
We had a special language
And spoke it every day
We shared a world of magic
Imaginations running wild
Adventures every single day
Are what I remember as a child
Holding hands and laughing
Red cheeks and faces beaming
I look back with such a fondness
When I find myself daydreaming
What about our birthdays
Dressed in matching clothes
Eyeing up the birthday cake
And the candles we would blow
We went everywhere together
Everything we shared
Our clothes, food, baths and bed
Even our teddy bears
I remember opening Christmas presents
And the mess that we both made
Wrapping paper everywhere
While we drunk lemonade
I didn’t think I’d live without you
A tragedy I would never survive
Your memory has kept me going
Loves the reason that I am alive
My son, he has your strength
Your mannerisms and your style
I hear you when he is laughing
I see you when he smiles
As one, we were born Debs
I know you’ll be there when I die
I want to feel your angels wings
Will you teach me how to fly
