Come Together

Brody Spear 2009 (League City Texas)

just a day in the shoes of a colorblind man

Should make it easy for you to see

That these diverse tones

Don’t just cover our bones

They are a part of our anatomy

We need to talk it out

not just sit and pout

We need to come together

One race to another

We had slaves notice that was past tense

Bad things happened and things still happen

You think I'm lying well you better strap in

This is serious so please stop laughing

We need to have more love in

People shouldn’t get hurt

Because they are different

The wrong message was sent

Our trust was bent

But it’s not what we meant

Maybe you didn’t get what I was saying

Our unity is fraying

Don't think I am playing

This ain’t entertaining

These words I am spraying

The message I’m portraying

We need to stop our hate

Before it’s too late

These rhymes I incinerate

We need to come together

Even if we don’t like the weather

Just because we are black or white

Doesn’t mean we should fight

I can see the light

At the end of the tunnel

We'll be there soon

If we can come together
