"The Nightmare"

As I was drifting off to sleep
I cut off the light
The room was so dark as you couldn't hear a peep
My eyes were shut, but I felt the night

This nightmare seemed real to me
As I went deeper into my mind
There were shadows that I thought I could see
I was not able to put a face to what I would find

But it scared me as the darkness took control
The shadows began to grow
Like a demon wanted to take my soul
I was terrified like I was in a movie show

Then I felt the dark-shadowed demon come close
I tried to get away, but there was nowhere to go
As I tried to hide in the dark, it reached out in front of my nose
Then I began to scream out and shouted no!

Suddenly my eyes awakened in the darkroom
I cried out and looked at the side of my bed
It was that shadow demon with red eyes of gloom
Then he came toward me and I thought I was dead

My wife heard me scream
As she turned on the light
She said honey it was a dream
As I was drenched in sweat, I told her, it was nightmare and it gave me a terrible fright
