Solo

Grayson Faircloth 2008 (St. Augustine, FL)

Solo:

Was it the way she held you up
The way she said she’d always be there

Was it the way she confided in you
The faith she had in you, her trust

Was it the messages that weren't aloud
The shots in the dark, you both understood

Was it her sheer excitement
The look on her face when you walked side by side

Was it her golden heart
The kindness she exuded

Was it the way you loved her
The way she couldn’t requite

You loved her so much, too much
She only wanted you when you didn’t want her
You resented her for that, you iced her out
She never treated you as good as you treated her
And when she did, you felt you couldn’t compare

It was how fast she dropped you down
And the way she left so quick

It was the way you confided in her
And the way she showed your secrets to the world

It was all the silent remarks
And how she never understood them

It was the way you matched her enthusiasm
And how she hated having you easy

It was your mistakes and lies
And the way you felt so second to her

You loved her so much, too much
And she didn’t love the same
So you felt trapped, alone
When you feel alone
Bad things happen
