Her

“Those boys will be all over you when you're older.”
What a lie.
Jealousy.
Jealousy hurts when you’re jealous of someone you love.
I spend every day asking myself why I can’t be like her.
She has a small waist, flat stomach, and a pretty face.
Perfect curves, perfect hair, and perfect skin.
I’m jealous of all of those external qualities.
But I’m more jealous of the inside.
Perfect charm, funny, flirty.
She makes friends wherever she goes.
Heck, one of my best friend's likes her more than she likes me.
She's got perfect grades, and is the best volleyball player.
She’s got confidence, style, and a group of supporters.
She’s had her first kiss.
Why can’t I be like her?
Why can’t I have an effortlessly perfect body?
Why can’t I have clear skin, soft hair, and natural highlights?
Why can’t I be charming and funny?
Why can’t I make friends?
Why am I not athletic?
Why do boys never look at me?
Oh, I know.
Because they are looking at her.
“Those boys will be all over you when you’re older”
Correction, those boys will be all over her.
