Space and Time

Abbey-Gale Daniel 1982 (San Fernando)

In this space and in this time,
For this moment,
I was yours and you were mine.
My silent thoughts I wish you could overhear,
Heart beating like drum,
Yet there was a stillness in the air.
The touch of your soft melanin skin touching mine,
I would be lying if I tell you I am fine.
Overwhelmed by emotions,
Drowning till now there is no air to breathe.
Yearning for more,
Holding back you were,
Because about me you are still not sure.
In this space, and in this time,
True bliss was felt,
The design of our love was undefined.
Uncertainty became an overcast,
My heart was robbed with permission blind,
Though it is not easy,
Every second and minute when you are around I treasure you because you were mine.
In this space and in this moment in time.

About this poem

This poem is about loving someone in the every moment you share because deep down you know the feelings are not the same. It is saying I am not going to love less because that wouldn’t be authentic….so it is left to love and treasure the person even if it is uncertain.
