Livestock Guardian Donkey and Me

Elliot Poetry 1912 (Massachusetts)

We all run in fear from him
as he's chasing us
He is scary and treats us
like he's better than us
one time as we were in line
he ran on top of us
our owner had enough
so we threw him out
and sent him to an orphanage
and our owner got this nice donkey
the donkey protects me and my herd
we get along great and were best friends
and when he needs us to do something
he doesn't yell at us and hurt us like
the dog did
then we lived happily ever after
the end
a dog may be a mans best friend
but the sanctuary's worst enemy
