Good Enough

Good Enough
By Nancy Rodriquez

I was good enough for you to invite me in on a cold
Winter's night,
when you wanted to take our relationship to a new level,
Our world seemed pure and right,
before you began listening to the devil.
I was good enough to be in your bed we made,
to cuddle together warm and snug,
until you ran away when your pride had a say,
and you squashed our love as a bug,
I was good enough to bring you a hot meal,
prepared in a kitchen of love,
we shared how a couple was to feel,
and from our hearts, we  knew what dreams were made of,
I was good enough to make sure you survived,
gave of my time and my substance,
staying by your side,
building a romance,
I was good enough to be in your life,
in good times or in bad,
dreaming of becoming your wife,
and working for the things I never had,
when did I become not good enough?
