A Note to Self

Three wise men advised,
Clean house.
Forgive.
Repent.
Move on.
Tearing open your heart,
So we may have a look inside,
A big move to ease your pain.
Never go back to one
tainted by the loss of
Trust,
Respect,
And confidence.
Doing anything else
Is to wound oneself foolishly,
Wasting adrenaline,
Losing sense of self.
You were young then,
You hoped; you dreamed.
Your love was real.
Heartaches happen,
You were broken,
You were torn,
And you chose to move away.
You deserve one great love,
You managed just that.
Be grateful,
That’s what you prayed for.
Smile often.
Live freely.
Love abundantly.

About this poem

Three wise men’s words of wisdom combined. I’m grateful. My husband, Steve, & Wayne. I didn’t use quotation marks as I added a few words here and there, to work with the meters/rhymes. These wonderful men should write their books about life. I am truly grateful for their wisdom and compassion.
