If you need anything...

Jodi Lamb 1967 (United States)

Roses are red
violets are blue
you said if i need anything
i can call on you.

Newly alone and never needing to ask for help its hard to ask.  Dont know who, dont know how, dont know what is ok to take anyone up on those words, that offer "help".

So when that very first step is taken, and I asked reluctantly for offered help, I wait.  Because you sounded so sincere.  But you never came thru.  Some even avoid after offering to be there, "whatever you need" never happened.

Its ok. I understand. I hated to ask anything, anyway.  But you said you meant it.  Its ok, i swear.

I ask another who said same...... I told you i swear it was ok...I waited...Nothing.  I hated to ask anyway.  But at the funeral you said you meant it.

I wont ask again
I wont beg
I wont make my self look like a beggar.

I swear its ok.

But please, dont offer if you wont mean it.  It hurts too bad to be in a situation to have to ask to take you up on your offer.

Just dont offer...please.

About this poem

when a person dies, "friends" offer if you need anything, just let me know. I just wish they wouldnt offer if they are not sincere. Its hard enough being newly alone, i dont ask for help but found it needed this time.
