Second chances

Cleophas Monari 2003 (Nairobi)

SECOND CHANCES
Hey!
Let's talk
Let me listen to that story of yours that words ain't enough
Let us catch up from where we got interrupted by life
Ask me how've been and why I've been reluctant to move on
Let us rewrite this story that was meant to be erased
And let the stars be amazed
That they can still shine in an environment that's too harsh for them
How've you been?
Tell me about your mom
Is she still strict?
Does she still beat some of your admirers and warn you about the street?
Tell me about your insecurities
I mean resume everything
You've never stopped being the constellation of my sky
Do the slightest of things still make you cry?
How's school?
Do you still scroll through your phone to avoid feeling awkward in crowds?
Is your hair still dyed ?
Was it ginger blonde?
You see
we are captives of our own identities
Prisoners of our own minds
Sometimes we don't deserve the best
We just have to behave best for what seems best for our souls
Hey
I miss your fancy thoughts
Furthermore second chances won't be a worse title, right?
